Lecture: Descriptive Interpretation of Fluorescein Angiography

Knowledge of the normal circulation patterns of the retinal and choroidal blood vessels provides a foundation for identifying abnormalities in fluorescein angiography. This course will cover the angiographic procedure, timing/phases of circulation, and descriptive terminology in both normal and abnormal angiograms. Concepts of hyperfluorescence and hypofluorescence will be discussed.

Objectives:

  • Describe the phases of a normal angiogram.
  • Identify abnormal patterns of fluorescence
  • Recognize common hyperfluorescent and hypofluorescent findings.
